Rhythmic Discipline

Accuracy of note timing and sequence within the rhythmic framework

The five levels

Each anchor describes what separates one level from the next — not a general description of quality. This is the text the evaluator itself reads.

  • Level 1 Below Standard

Rhythmic chaos, notes out of timing

Example Notes don't fall in their correct positions

  • Level 2 Approaching

Partial discipline with deviations in difficult sections

Example Simple notes in time but difficult ones late or early

  • Level 3 At Standard

Good rhythmic discipline, notes in their correct positions

Example Performance rhythmically readable and clear

  • Level 4 Above Standard

    Precise discipline allowing expressive flexibility

Example Rhythm stable while expression freely added

  • Level 5 Exemplary

Professional discipline with ability for controlled creative departure

Example Departs from rhythm skillfully then returns to it masterfully
