Each anchor describes what separates one level from the next — not a general description of quality. This is the text the evaluator itself reads.

Either excessive complexity or emptied simplicity
Example Complicates what should be simplified or simplifies what needs depth

Balance attempt with clear tendency toward one extreme
Example Controls complexity or simplicity but doesn't balance them

Reasonable balance between simplicity and complexity
