Ergonomic Fit

Designing the product to fit the user's body and motion comfortably

The five levels

Each anchor describes what separates one level from the next — not a general description of quality. This is the text the evaluator itself reads.

  • Level 1 Below Standard

A design ignoring the user's comfort

Example A sharp edge hurting the hand when held

  • Level 2 Approaching

Partial fit with points of discomfort in use

Example The grip is comfortable but the weight is unbalanced

  • Level 3 At Standard

A good fit making use comfortable

Example The product held and used without strain

  • Level 4 Above Standard

A fit making use natural, as if an extension of the body

Example The product settles in the hand as if made for it

  • Level 5 Exemplary

Exceptional fit making the product more pleasant in hand than any rival

Example The user prefers your product for its feel and balance alone
