Joint & Structural Integrity
Tight joints and a piece that holds functionally: the joint bears load, the vessel doesn't leak, the structure doesn't loosen.
The five levels
Each anchor describes what separates one level from the next — not a general description of quality. This is the text the evaluator itself reads.
-
Level 1 Below Standard
Loose joints and visible gaps that weaken the structure.
Example A wood joint where glue fills what the fit failed to.
-
Level 2 Approaching
Uneven fit; some joints tight, others showing a line of light.
Example One tight corner and one loose in the same frame.
-
Level 3 At Standard
Clean fit; no visible gap and the joint holds without relying on adhesive alone.
Example A joint bearing its load steadily.
-
Level 4 Above Standard
Precise fit hiding the joint line, completed by the finish.
Example A straight leather seam barely visible.
-
Level 5 Excellence
Invisible fit; the joint unseen and bearing more than the surrounding material — a master's work.
Example A wood joinery that looks like a single piece.
