Symmetry & Precision
Discipline of axes, measurements, and repetition; intended symmetry or its intended breaking.
The five levels
Each anchor describes what separates one level from the next — not a general description of quality. This is the text the evaluator itself reads.
-
Level 1 Below Standard
Clear unintended imbalance in symmetry and measurements.
Example A vessel with a tilted axis and uneven wall.
-
Level 2 Approaching
Approximate symmetry with noticeable deviations.
Example A repeated pattern whose units differ slightly.
-
Level 3 At Standard
Readable symmetry and consistent measurement precision.
Example A jewellery piece clearly symmetric on both sides.
-
Level 4 Above Standard
High precision, and intended symmetry serving form and function.
Example A disciplined pattern repeat building a visual rhythm.
-
Level 5 Excellence
Total command: mastered symmetry or its deliberate breaking serving meaning.
Example A deliberate flaw in ornament drawing the eye to its centre.
