Wall Evenness
Even wall thickness from base to rim, a sign of control and material efficiency.
The five levels
Each anchor describes what separates one level from the next — not a general description of quality. This is the text the evaluator itself reads.
-
Level 1 Below Standard
Highly uneven wall; a heavy base and a fragile rim.
Example A thick base against a thin, cracking rim.
-
Level 2 Approaching
Partial evenness with noticeable variation in places.
Example A middle thicker than top and bottom.
-
Level 3 At Standard
An evenly thick wall along its length.
Example Consistent thickness from base to rim.
-
Level 4 Above Standard
A thin, even wall balancing lightness and strength.
Example A light, strong cup with an even wall.
-
Level 5 Excellence
A thin wall of pure evenness, translucently light yet strong.
Example A piece whose wall almost glows from its thin evenness.
