Stitch Consistency
Even stitch size, direction, and spacing across the whole work.
The five levels
Each anchor describes what separates one level from the next — not a general description of quality. This is the text the evaluator itself reads.
-
Level 1 Below Standard
Stitches of varying size and direction that disrupt the pattern.
Example A row of stitches of differing sizes.
-
Level 2 Approaching
Partial consistency with scattered stray stitches.
Example Most stitches regular, a few larger.
-
Level 3 At Standard
Stitches even in size and direction across the work.
Example A regular, clean row of stitches.
-
Level 4 Above Standard
Full consistency even on curves and corners.
Example Even stitches rounding a curve smoothly.
-
Level 5 Excellence
Masterful stitches that look machine-regular yet carry the hand’s warmth.
Example Embroidery so regular it hardly seems handmade.
